About me
I have always been fascinated by the interaction between brain, cognition, and behaviour. During my master’s degree, I collaborated on two very different research projects: one on memory maintenance and the other on the links between the immune system and depression. Unexpectedly, both converged on a single point for me: the Self.
This interest, combined with my passion for voice research, led me to where I am today: a PhD student in Cognitive Science, studying exactly what I’m most curious about. A researcher eager to expand my knowledge through the many learning opportunities offered by my PhD, conducted between the VoicES Lab in Portugal and the BAND lab in the Netherlands.
Research
A crucial function in our sensory-rich environment is the ability to distinguish between self-generated and externally generated sensations. Yet, the multidimensional nature of what “self-generated” entails is often overlooked. My PhD project focuses on voice perception and aims to combine psychophysical and EEG data (both task-based and resting-state) to investigate the potential dissociation between two dimensions of the Self: agency (the sense of being the source of a voice) and ownership (the sense that a voice belongs to oneself).
